Our journey with TAP started last year. My youngest twin is highly sensitive to light, sound, and touch. His behaviors can be extreme. It took a special someone to lead him and break through to him and that someone was his OT. After my first encounter with our OT, I knew immediately she would be that special spirit that would have a tremendous impact on him. From multiple tantrums a day to 2-3 a week, my lil’ guy is practicing the skills he has learned in OT at home. I hear, “Momma, I need your soft shirt.” Or from my oldest twin who started two months ago, “Mom, jump with me!” My children are learning invaluable self-regulation skills and how to listen and respond to their needs.

As an educator, I have seen the confusion, struggles, and lack of stamina/attention when a child needs OT. I like to refer to OT as the preliminary work for learning. If our body isn’t able to process or sort the information coming in, it’s not effectively receiving and interpreting the input. Don’t we want efficiency, clarity and ultimately joy for children? My children also sleep better and are telling us when it’s time for bed…now that’s self – regulation doing its magic!

I’m incredibly thankful for their staff and for our OT. She’s masterful with her firm yet loving and optimistic ways and positivity…she oozes positivity.

We drive all the way from Fairfield for therapy twice a week. Not because there aren’t other therapists closer but because therapy at play is simply the best. We were at one facility five minutes from our house but were not pleased with all with the lack of professionalism, clinical skills, and organization. We tried it for a year and found therapy at play and it has been the BIGGEST relief. Our son is thriving under their care.
